Try these. They are copies of other transitions modified specifically for text.

Some transitions are only made to work between clips. Some can be modified in Motion to work properly with titlesand some can’t. In Motion you have to turn off A or B depending on if you want an incoming or outgoing transition.

Why not just import the Go-Pro footage into FCP X and let it optimize? That works for me. I have used MPEG Streamclip quite a bit in the past but I don’t think it’s been updated in a while and I haven’t used it in over a year.

W will insert into selected secondary at the position of the skimmer (if active) or the playhead

It never really occurred to me to use compound clips as a way to move large chunks of content around like this until I had been using FCP X for a while. That’s one of those things that’s difficult to teach or put into a manual unless you are doing it all the time. Glad to help!

Select the still images. “Option G” to make them a compound clip. Go to the second sequence. Choose the compound clip in the event browser and use “q” to make an attached compound clip. “Command G” makes it a secondary storyline and then “Shift Command G” to break apart the compound clip. Takes longer to type out than to do it.

On a static shot it is really easy to do in Photoshop or a similar app. Trying to do it in FCP X isn’t the best approach. You could also do it in Motion if you have it.

No problem. When you drop them into your project you can break apart the compound clip Shift Command G if you’re concerned about getting too many compounds in your project.
