Make the freeze frame a compound clip. That will put it in the browser.

The 10.1.X interface definitely lags worse than previous versions. I’ve sent feedback to Apple and apparently they are aware of it. I hope the next update addresses the issue.

Try “Repair Permissions”. I had a funky menu situation once and that may have fixed it. It’s worth a shot.

  • Some transitions are built to be used only between two clips, not as incoming or outgoing effects. Bloom is one of them. You can open a copy in Motion and turn off “Transition A” for an incoming transition or “Transition B” for an outgoing transition. You can also set up and publish rigs to do it all in one transition. Once you have what you want you can save it forever. I can’t go into any more detail right now but give it a shot. It’s not too difficult once you see how it works.

I was using Final Cut Library Manager but the most recent version seems to have some issues. In the past I was using X-Wiper but it hadn’t been updated to work with the 10.1 Library format and I stopped using it. Since I was having trouble with FCLM I checked on X-Wiper recently and it’s been updated and works fine on my systems. It’s in the App Store.

You’re not doing anything wrong. It’s the way the transition is built. Try this:

October 30, 2014 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Swapping Audio Channels in FCPX possible?

Yes – I have used it when I have a sound effect that pans the wrong way across the stereo field. For instance a car drive-by SFX that pans left to right and in the video the car is driving through the frame from right to left.

Under Channel Configuration in the Inspector with a stereo file you have the option for Reverse Stereo.

September 22, 2014 at 9:24 pm in reply to: 10.1.3 bug?

Either turn off audio in the inspector or use “detach audio”. Break apart clip items does clear effects. It’s also pretty drastic and I’ve never found a need for using it on an individual clip. It is more suited to breaking apart compound clips or storylines.

To shut off audio just use the inspector. As Bret indicated, it leaves you the option of turning it back on easily if the producer changes mind again. LOL – that’ll never happen!

Did you trash preferences and repair permissions after updating? I have seen both (apparently) fix weird interface issues.
