I’m sure all us EX1 owners will feel better after we hear the cost of the new unit. My guess is 10 grand.

I wish I was good at one thing rather than average at many, but oh well.

You can monitor SD via the HDSDI connection on the back.

    I also saw this https://www.abelcine.com/store/product.php?productid=1000487
Seems like a better fit than pick and pluck foam with the pelican cases. Also I read that Thermodyne (quickcases.com) does indeed have a mold for the EX1 foam insert.

    Cheers,

Thermodyne makes great cases. They can do custom foam inserts also. Check them out at https://www.quickcases.com

FYI, Roxio just released Toast 9. It supports Bluray video disc burning now.

Okay, So the audio input trim level can be adjusted by pressing the menu button and select AUDIO, then Input Gain. Hope that helps.

    Hey there,

I had a similar problem resolved by adjusting audio line levels in the menu system. I do not have access to my camera right now and can’t remember the exact location of the setting. I had the same audio distortion on the audio signal sent from a mixing console into the camera. I had the toggle switched to the mic level input where the xlr input is and made an adjustment in the “AUDIO” portion of the menu system and it resolved the issue. I adjusted the camera default from it’s -41db, or something like that. I know this is extremely vague and I apologize, but as soon as I get back to work I will let you know the exact location of the settings.

I was not able to process white balance with the camera zoomed in. I was able to adjust the white balance by pulling the zoom all the way back and holding a white piece of paper a couple feet in front of the camera.

I have been able to bring a HDV export (from an HDV capture) to a Final Cut Pro timeline and export it (useing current setting mode / HDV ) into a DVD Studio pro HD-DVD project and burn the disc without an encode. The problem is I can only use DVD-5 discs (No HDDVD-R discs / burners out there) and they only hold about 20 minutes of video. The Blu Ray option would be great, especially since we are upgrading our HDRFX1 / HVRA1U to the EX1.

  • You could do a live mix with something like the panasonic AV-HS400N HD-SDI mixer. Run HDSDI out of both cameras into the mixer and out into the Kona. Another option would be to run HDV out of both camera’s via firewire and use Big Mugs Capture HD https://www.bigmugsoftware.com/capture/ software that will allow you to capture multiple HDV / DVCPROHD sources at once. I have not used either so I can not vouch for either one.
