got it. Is this because of version FCP 6? I was always able to eject cards in FCP 5.1 and add another. Not hot swap, but I didn’t have to restart the G4.

I have a G4 and G5. I just upgraded to FCP studio 6. When I insert a p2 card into the slot on the G4, sometimes FCP 6 doesn’t see the card. The card mounts on the MAC. Sometimes I have to restart FCP to finally get a card to take. You can ingest from a card, eject it and add another. FCP won’t recognize the second card. Anyway it is a little frustrating and I did find a thread where (I think it was Shane) talked about uninstalling the FX factory trials and freebies, because the affected the ingest of P2 data.

I can go to the card from finder and see that it has files on it, so the MAC is reading the card. I have 10.4.11. I hope this helps.

I googled and found one of your old threads. I removed as much FX factory as I could and things are a little better. After I open the capture/transfer window a few times, it took the p2 cards and I was able to ingest them.

I am trying to locate all instances of FX, do you know where they reside in the library so I can remove everything? Anything else come to mid that plays with the P2 ingest? I have a lot of apps, and would like to know if anything else causes problems.

    Thanks

BTW, i am still leaning the finder points of the HVX200. Since 720 records four channels of audio, can I set the camera to record only on two as a default? I am going to look though the manual, but sometimes you guys have already been through it.

thanks guys for all your help. I have FCP rescue on the G5. I will load it on my G4 since I can plug p2 cards directly into the slot.

I just need to get up to speed. I haven’t had to shoot a lot of HD and now there is more of a demand for it. I also have the academic version of FCP 5. I want to upgrade bad, but money is really tight right now. As an instructor, I could probably get the FCP6 academic version….but I am teaching on an as needed basis and tutoring in voice. I will eventually have to upgrade to the retail version to make further upgrades. Just not sure what to do right now. I had to buy a libec ls 55, just so my shots would be smoother. Anyway, if you guys here of anyone unloading FCP6 at a good deal I would be interested.

Thanks again for all your help.

Just a question, when you have the TC set to Free Run, is it synced by the internal clock or do you still have to sync both cameras via FW initially. I am not too clear about the process.

    Thanks.

Someone tried that before and it didn’t work. I didn’t know enough about the camera then. Here is another question. Since the 100B uses the same remote, can you start a 100B and HVX at the same time.

Here is something I ran into. I used a clap board on an HVX and 100B, but I couldn’t sync the sound on the 100B to the HVX for a multi cam edit. Are the tape transports in those cameras essentially the same? Just food for thought.

That’s Fair. What would be a good rate to charge as a data wrangler. With or without G4 and hard drives.I am not going to do this on a PA rate and PA’s get 200/day in this market. NC/SC/VA/GA

    Thanks for the help.

January 9, 2009 at 8:58 pm in reply to: Car Monitor conversion adapter

It appears to be older. I can’t find a serial number since nothing is printed beside the S/N. Anyway it is a Starvision 7″ car TV and Monitor. That is all I can get. Maybe it is a knock off or a refurb.

    thanks for all the help

January 9, 2009 at 7:36 pm in reply to: Flicker at 24p

Do you think flicker is actually stobing? I leaned about this in Barry Green’s HVX book. At 24p, you can only pan at a certain speed or stobing will occur. There is a chart in the ACS manual and the HVX book for lens type, distance etc?
