I have to jump in here. My MPB with snow leopard is seeing the duel adapter card, but the recent P@ driver will not load on SN. For some reason I didnt’ think of looking at the compatibility of Duel. I read P2 was fine somewhere.
Either Dual or panny will have to work this out, I have a bus powered FW drive with leopard and FCP6 just for P2 injest.
Pain in the A, yes. Does it work. Yes.
When I was a PA a director told me:

I will look at the specs later tonight. Do you have experience with this one? How well does it focus in 720? Those red lines for focus: can they be used for 1080….. not that I shoot a lot of 1080.
Sorry, now that I looked at it again, the XLR is for camera battery power. I can’t see the side pics up close. That port looks a little small to be an HDMI in. Would it be FW 4 pin?
Cheers.

I just upgraded to SN on my MPB and haven’t tried Duel yet, but I also have a bus powered FW drive with Leopard on it to run some older apps. I have FCP 6 on the Leopard partition. I guess I will have to restart to ingest.
Maybe that can be an option. For about 200 bucks (drive and enclosure – https://oyendigital.com/hard-drives/store/EB2-S.html), I upgraded my MBP drive to 500GB 7200RM and took the 320 GB drive and slapped it into a bus powered FW800/estata enclosure.
I agree SN is making life rough while using some older apps, but we all knew this would eventually come. Thank God SN isn’t a the bizzaro world equivalent to Vista.

Can’t remember, but I am pretty sure it was this one.

I am a way total dork! I am too busy to stop and look at the pixels in the flowers. I just migrated over to the MPB and since I was still using my G4 to ingest cards, I forgot to add the P2 driver for MAC onto the MPB.
All is forgiven and I am happy.

I am hurt, I just bough this thing. It will show the that I have the adapter plugged in, but I can’t see the P2 card mount on the desktop. Let me go into FCP and see if it sees it.

Will Super Duper do it or is there a better app.
When I clone, do I clone everything but FCP and Studio?

that is good advice and I appreciate it. I have a 4 core at work, but we do little HD and are using Premier CS3, so I have never run FCP on it. I may wait and pop for the 8 core. My concern is three years down the road. If the scarlet makes it to market, I will probably get it and use it as my primary and my HVX as secondary. I want to know that I can work with those 2K files with a good raid array if needed.
If I was to get the baseline 8 core new, how much of a difference would I see in 2.26 as apposed to 2.8? I know it is apples and oranges. But in the grand scheme of things, would I still be able to edit 2K and XD can on an 8 core 2.26 pretty well?
Also, do you think they will revamp the new mac pro soon and come out with a cheaper version like the MBP?
I have been scanning the blogs, but don’t see anything. If a better MAC is out there in 3 months that is cheaper, I may wait.
Cheers.

I wished I had the money, but I can use the apple 12 months no financing. I am only looking at buying one tower and I wanted to see which of the first tow would get me by for about 3 years or so. The third was a just in case…..I wanted to pop the wad and go for it, but there wouldn’t be too much of a difference in the chip speed 3.0 to 3.0 in the grand scheme of things.
