I have a memory of seeing the exact same issue you report, in FCP 4 or 5 some years ago. At that time I solved it by examining the source clips. I found some to be MP3 clips, which I converted to AIF and re-inserted. I also found some DV clips audio to be 32 kHz, I converted these to 48 kHz. And after that all was well.

I’m not sure this is the same problem that’s re-surfaced in FCP 7.0.1, but just a thought.

One issue in OMFs that we are seeing (was so in FCP 6 as well) is that exported OMFs do not have time code from the original BWFs used in FCP. Especially so when the FCP clips are actually merged clips. This is separate audio in a film (24@25 project).

So we’ve put this down as an unresolved issue, probably affecting only PAL film projects.

Just downloaded the app.

XDCamEx 1080p24 shows as 87 Gb/hr.

That seems weird. If XDcamEx here refers to shooting with the EX-1 or EX-3 to SxS cards, then it is 35 Mbps or 25 Mbps. If so, it should be about 15 Gb/Hr and 13 Gb/hr respectively.

Another nifty method of ‘lifting’ dark material is to apply the ‘Gamma Correction’ filter which is in the Image Control folder in Video Filters.
Run the slider down to as far as you need to brighten the image overall. I’ve found 0.8 works for slightly dark shots, and 0.5 for seriously underexposed shots.

For the web the most reliable method is to have burn-in subtitles.
So you can make them in your FCP timeline itself. Check readibility by making the canvas the approx size of the final movie as it plays on the web.

PAL to NTSC conversion even with the best settings in Compressor may display motion artifacts in some scenes.
One nifty method, if time (meaning duration) is not crucial is to
1. export your sequence as PAL 24fps with audio in a self-contained movie.
2. Open that in CinemaTools and conform it to 23.98fps
(this will alter the audio speed as well, but also increase the duration by 4% and alter the pitch and tempo of music slightly)
3. Use the normal settings in Compressor to make an NTSC mpeg-2
or
3. Simply use iDVD set to NTSC and professional settings.

The 24fps to NTSC conversion is a tried and tested conversion in the NTSC world and so is acceptable. Of course, it is actually 23.98 to 29.97 as there is practically no 24fps in video in the NTSC world.

You take the clip into Color
Go to the secondary room
go to secondary 1
enable secondary CC
pick the color you need to change
tweak the key
adjust the color
go to secondary 2
enable secondary CC
repeat for another color
go to secondary 3
enable secondary CC
repeat for another color

You can do this for up to 8 Secondary CCs

There may be something in the sequence settings. And are you watching this on your system monitor, or an external monitor?
Also, if you are watching the movie in QT Player, maybe you need to put the ‘high quality’ setting on in QT player.

Consider doing this in Color. Its free, installed with FCP and can do multiple secondaries – upto 8.

I don’t think there’s any distinction between Pro Apps sold in different English-speaking countries. It might be different in the Eu and other regions where people use local languages even in the FCP interface.

You can even select all clips and drag them to an empty sequence. The length of the seq is the total length of all clips. Be sure to remove any in and out marks in each clips. You can even do that in the browser by right-click on the in TC (in the In column) and selecting Clear in. So also for remove out.
