it seems what you are asking for is what Avid call “Reverse match Frame”
where you click the viewer (source) clip and the timeline moves to the corresponding point.
While FCP does not have a reverse match frame button as such you can still pretty much do the same thing. Just select your clip in the viewer and select “f” (match frame) and the timeline will move to the corresponding position as long as the shot is in your cut of course.Is that what you meant ?

it seems you may have a couple of issues here.
Firstly if the properties of the clip are showing as H264 then yes you have used the wrong media. It should say ProRes for the codec.
Your sequence is also H264 – which is why it plays fine until you get to a transition.
You clearly planned to edit the ProRes footage into a ProRes sequence.
In terms of a simple replacement, I am not sure if it will be that easy. If your file names are the same for both the H264 and ProRes you could try editing your sequence into a ProRes timeline, taking your existing footage offline and then reconnecting to the ProRes media.
If you have done a lot if work as you are you may take the view that putting up with having to render is less of a hassle than trying to rebuild.best wishes

Yes very likely, if you are playing back HD footage from your internal drive you will run into problems with dropped frames.
It is generally not a good idea to use your internal drive for video playback.
Some options to consider depending on the age/model of your Macbook.
Basic minimum would be a firewire 800 drive but to be honest that’s going to only be OK up to around HDV resolution. After that it will begin to struggle depending on what you use.
A small Sata raid of 2 drives might be an option. Raid 0 for speed but bear in mind no redundancy. (Not that you have that on internal anyway)
You will need a Sata card like this.

Then finally the new machines support Thunderbolt drives which should be quick enough as they are.

Have to say I have never heard of the audio playback volume affecting the performance of video playback.
My fist questions would be what type of drive(s) on what type of bus are you using to playback the footage ? How many layers are you playing back ?

Probably the easiest way is to right click on your existing clip in the timeline and select copy.
Then edit in your new clip.
Then right click on the new clip and select paste attributes.
You can then select which attributes from the old clip to copy across.
So perhaps in your case that will be Basic Motion and Filters.
But you can select other parameters too like crop etc, just select the ones that are relevant to your clip that you want to retain.
Then the new clip will have all of the attributes and filters from the old one.

What quite a few people, including me, had to do was to hide FCPX (or delete it) ) and then go to the “Purchased” tab on your App store and install from there.
If you just go to the App store, rather than the purchased tab, it is confused and asks you to re-buy.
Prior to that it would say that it was installed but not purchased from the App StoreI think there are a few posts about it but that’s basically the answer.

Make sure they are patched the correct way when you edit your audio file onto you timeline. ie trk 1 to 1 and trk 2 to 2
If thats all good make sure your left and right are not reversed in the mixer, have a look at the panning on the audio mixer tool – make sure they have not been switched there somehow.
Cant think of any other ways they could get flipped.

Mixing frame rates pretty much always leads to issues one way or another. It is something that I try to avoid at all costs.
While computers and files tolerate “odd” frame rates, television systems are simply not designed to deal with that.
If something is for TV then you really need to supply a tv spec file so I am guessing your PBS station will prefer 29.97?
I am in Pal land and we get the same thing happen here. People shoot 24 becuase they think it will be more “filmic” but then end up in a world of pain when everything has to become 25 for TV output.
You will see many posts here where people shoot with a 5D an AF100 and a GoPro all at different rates and codecs and then wonder why they have problems.
Cinema tools will do a good job of converting your footage but thats wont take care of the audio.
Nattress standards convert plug-in may also help you.best wishes
