    I have my Sequence Preset to HDV – 1080i50 (which I’m assuming my camera has a 50 after the 1080i)

    I have my Capture Preset to HDV.

    I have my Device Control Preset to Sony HDV 1080i50 FireWire.

    My Video Playback set to None (because all of the HDV options are unelectable).

    My Audio Playback is set to Default.

    I can control my camera from FCP, but I can’t see any of the footage being displayed on the camera on FCP. The counter at the right corner of the preview-capture screen runs, and the play and stop buttons work so I don’t know why I wouldn’t receive an image on the screen.

    Also, when I hit capture>now it says “No Data from Device: Capture was aborted due to lack of incoming data from device. Check your connections and that the deck is playing.”

    I know I’m doing something wrong, and I know the computer and camera are communicating so I at least know nothing is broken lol.

    I set all of the capture settings to HDV1080i or HDV because the camera is an HDV camera; I was thinking everything would have fallen to place.

    I need help though, and any help is wanted.

    Couple of things that would be worth checking.

    Is the recording HDV ? – you can record DVCam and DV on the Z5.

    Also there is a down-convert option in the settings.
    Make sure its not down-converting.

    They are the first 2 things I would check – hope it helps.

    Up to my knowledge, I put all the settings under HDV or HD1080i..

    I figured that I should leave the down-convert off too because it would down convert it to DV –

    On my Final Cut Pro it looked blurry when I was previewing it, but then when I hit capture now in the log window, it looked fine.

    I may need glasses.

    I realized that when I was shooting, I had the VCR mode in/out rec set to Auto instead of HDV…

    So I’m guessing it was switching back and forth on it’s way out of the camera…

    Now, I’m getting a “Formatting was not successful. Not enough space on output media” in DVD studio pro…

    I should be good once I get over this.
