I believe that the Nitris DX box accelerates the Avid DNxHD encoding and decoding.
There are single and dual chip options to facilitate Stereoscopic 3D with either DNxHD, AVC Intra or one of each available.
It also handles upscaling and downscaling as well as obviously providing all the relevant I/Osbest wishes

I always think it is pretty interesting how we have all become accepting that computer software and to a degree some tech hardware is sold to us basically not working entirely properly with a promise that “it will be fixed in the next release”
I cant think of any other product that we buy where we would consider this acceptable.
To pick up on Herbs car brakes anaology, imagine of we went to buy a car and the salesman said “Yes I know that looks like a sunroof – but it doesnt yet open – it will in the next release, just bring it back in 3 months and we will make it work”
or
“Yes this car runs on a new concept fuel. You cant actually get it anywhere yet but in the next year every gas station will probably be able to supply it – sorry its not compatible with the “legacy” fuel that every one else sells”
We would all just laugh and leave – yet somehow over the years computer companies have got us to accept the “jam tomorow” model.How did that happen and is there any other product you would buy on the same basis ?

One thing to consider – if you are shooting with a 5D and whip pan that quickly – prepare for lots of shutter roll. Your left right pans will become “diagonal” looking which may look a little odd.
Some of the transitions are pushes with the image blurred as the push happens. Others are camera pans and tilts with a well timed cut between.
sometimes using a little motion blur as the move happens.
Most of the transitions seem to be over 6 frames – 3 each side of cut
It looks like on a couple of the transitions to the car they are including a few frames of a whip pan from another image betweeen the 2 shots.
Experiment with those kind of combinations and effects.
Its more in the timing and planning than anything really tricky effects-wise. Matching the speed of the incoming and outgoing movement is going to help it look smooth too.best wishes

No sadly you cant open FCP projects in FCPE – you can the other way around but thats no good for you.
Since you are permitted to make a “machine readable back-up” – you could perhaps reasonably argue this is a temporary back up installation and install on your laptop – its not like you can run them both at once since your main machine is away being fixed.
Maybe for speed just load FCP (rather than the whole Studio) to enable you to carry on working while your machine is repaired.
Just make sure you delete the laptop install once your main machine is returned if you want to stay legit.

It appears you have tried most options in making a fade and are still seeing the pronlem.
I would first remove the fade to see if the picture still jumps. Is there a rogue motion keyframe at the fade pont ?
What happens if you fade a couple of frames earlier or later ? Does the problem persist ?
What happens if you replace the shot with any other and fade that at the same point – does that produce the same jump ?
Those things should give you a clue as to the cause.

Having used Kona, Matrox and Blackmagic with FCP my preference is Kona and agree with Steve the LHe and LHi are probably your best options.
The LHi offers extra connectivity in that it in addition to the standard HD and SD BNC connectors it also has HDMI
It also offers the option to upconvert, downconvert and cross convert.
The LHe is a similar spec but no HDMI and only offers downconvert.
Obviously the breakout boxes for each reflect the neccesary io connectors.

Its just a series of very quick cuts between the same 3 or 4 shots.
They look like they are 2 frames each but may be just a single frame – its hard to tell without downloading and stepping through but basically its just quick cuts.

You can use both Motion 4, Motion 5 and FCP 7 on the same machine however there are a few things to consider.
Motion 5 is designed to be used with FCP X and while it will work as a standalone it does not directly interface to FCP7.
You cant simply “Send to Motion” from FCP7 and heve the project automitically open in Motion 5.
So there is no round tripping and Motion 5 projects can not be opened/ imported to FCP7
I think you could use send to Motion (4) – open that in Motion 4 – save and then open that saved Motion 4 project in Motion 5
You would then have to export out a Movie from Motion 5 and import that into FCP7.
This is fine but what it does not allow for is making tweaks in a Motion Project that are then automatically updated in FCP.best wishes
