  • MC6 AMA Re-LInk using Automatic Duck FCP Export Plugin

So I’m new to Media Composer 6. I used the Automatic Duck AAF export plug-in from FCP to create a AAF Sequence. I checked the ‘Use AMA Relink’ option. When I open the project in Media Composer, all the clips and sequence show up in my bin. They are, however, offline. I’ve tried every setting combination using ‘Relink’ that is possible but I always get an error saying ‘Clips were not relinked’. I’m sure I’m doing something simple but just curios if anyone uses this function regularly and how they do it.

Sometimes in order for this to work, you have to make a new bin, drag all of the AMA clips and all of the ‘ducked’ clips in. When they’re all in the bin, then you can select them all and relink based on current selection. Or relink based on AMA file name, or something like that. It takes a lot of playing around like this to get AMA clips to link to ‘ducked’ clips, but it does work.

I’m fairly new to Avid too, and had exactly this problem earlier this week. I managed to track down the Avid document below, which solved it for me.
