[Steve Connor] “Are you saying that dynamic trimming makes your finished edits better?”

i think they would come out the same either way, at the end of the day my eyes and ears are the final judge. It just makes editing more interactive for me, it feels alot more natural.

after using Avid’s trim tool for years, its really frustrating to have trim any other way and once you get used to “rock & roll” style trimming, you notice jsut how organic your cuts become.

February 26, 2013 at 11:52 pm in reply to: Export with handles? Am i doing something wrong?

[Joseph Owens] “Are the transitions on the DaVinci timeline? it should render through the transition extents.

If they are not, then DaVinci won’t consider the “outside” selection part of what you need. In fact, you should “

ok. i usually wait to add transitions till after i color correct. but i guess its beneficial to do whats planned so davinci does the color.

when you say make a “handle” timeline, how are you going about doing that. Manually adding the handles to each clip? would i have to resync everything? does every clip get its own track, i dont get it ?

  • just as an FYI, you dont have to bring the transcoded media offline to relink to AMA.

Just open all the AMA bins, highlight all the clips, highlight the sequence and relink. I just found about this too, save you rom alot of potential errors.

[David Powell] “Ok so I’m not way of base. When you say “export out” do you mean out of plural eyes or do you mean you export each track at the highest quality and bring re-import them?

Also, is it possible to export multiple tracks as seperate files in one export? I’ve never seen it done but I figured Id ask

I meant export each track out of MC at the highest qaulity and then re import, then make your groups from them.

Ypur next question = I WISH! kinda like bouncing stems in pro tools or logic or audio apps. That would be huge!

i usually build a sync map with AMA’d clips that Pluraleyes spit out with new audio, export each track so its one long take with black in place of gaps, then bring those in, transcode and make my groups out of that.

In your case instead of mixing down i would also export, AMA them back in and then go to DNX 36 so you wont have any issues relinking back later.

Lots of people asking for “collapse timeline to group clip” function right now, would obviously make this a breeze.

Ive used timelines in the past as bins pulling selects, multiclips, syncmaps, marking etc, but would always copy paste to an empty timeline. I like to start with a empty slate and i feel like id be constant,ly wrestling with other clips on the timeline but to each his own. Whatever gets the job done.
