Id rather see them update the actual editorial functions than the fx like a 3d tracker. Cant really compare FCP to Resolve IMO as far what the feature set priorities are.

Havent tried to use FCPX for quite some time because lets be real – no ones asking me to 🙂 but I agree with alot of this, and Ill add my biggest one – TRIMMING.

FCPX trim is just not even close. Even Premiere which I loathe does it better.

Another person who thinks everyone gets to choose their computers. lol check your privilege!

Routinely edit R3D on a 2012 Cheesegrater Mac and have edited it on lower spec macbook and managed to deliver on time to happy clients and did not to pull my hair out although some of its falling out on its own.

  • Avid. Make an in and out – select all tracks with media – transition and then check the box that says apply to everything within in an out.

[Oliver Peters] “[Mark Raudonis] “I noticed you didn’t mention: Hewlett Packard’s buit in “RGS”. ”

I didn’t really know enough about it and it’s not a solution if you haven’t already made that investment and have it ready. But I’m not 100% clear from the link what it does. I get how it would work within a shop, but how responsive through internet connections?

im trying to use this now. my mouse keeps dissapearing – no way to use dual monitors or sound interfaces/ video put boxes. Its not a workable solution IMO.

if anyone has any tips or tricks, id love to thear them. we only have to do this becuae we finish out of house and the finishing house is requesting it.

Yea, i think we’d be fine if not for the security aspects.

i think it could theoretically work for us. we send out to another building down the street for finishing and all the computers and storage are already in that building so we are already on a remote-ish type setup.. we do dnx36 for everything already. Wether anyone will be able to acess that from home is another story.

What i think will be a more complicated issue for my industry is security. MPAA would have to install security in, and audit every home where an editor may be working remotely. Because we at times we will work on Marvel stuff, I have a keycard just to get into my editbay. There not going to let all these unrelesed films and tv shows out into thewild – thats for sure.

Yea I did see that in the readme but its noted as a beta limitation for now. good riddance to that old ass titler too, altough the new one is a little quirky.

Other than slates and black and white temp gfx, I dont really mess with titles
