i too cringed at that, i was like whats he doin, noooo. lol
People talk alot of smack about how old and creaky it is, and how its not enticing to new editors, but the real deal is that it jsut works, and its tried and tested, you can trust it.
My wish list is multicam improvements mostly. Wish there was a feature that let you collapse a sync map into a group clip.
Also nudging a clip up and down a track with the KB would be welcome as would clip disable.
More audio tracks, bypassing FX, etc .
Resolution independance would be nice, but i have no need for it as now or in the forseeable near future.
Bottom line is editing in avids timeline is a dream, it just feels right.
That said, im totally eager to try out CS “Next”. the improvements look great, and i just opened CS 6 for the first time to kick the tires a bit in lew of “Next” getting here.

yea the interplay stuff is pretty cool.
All the new features, while not a long list are ones that make a huge impact. Background transcoding, that actually works in the background, and doest stop when you edit (FCPX) is huge, as well as the dynamic folders and flexfit. Master fader is great too, and the clip gain thing is something id use all day.

i dont use FCP X or PPRO (yet) but this is still the only forum on the cow i go to..this is where the editors are and is the most interesting forum on the net imo. And i like thats you can talk about anything and its not off topic.

nevermind, looks like its roughly the same accroding to their compare page. Lite users just dont 3d and 2k+ and the motion/noise reduction stuff.

Avid fx and squeeze still bundled. Symphony is now an add on. I agree on muliticam. Needs an update for sure.

looks like a solid update for me considering theres not too not much i’d change besides bug fix’s and workflow enhancements. I was hoping for updated multicam.
The AMA editions are huge, and the background transcode/consolidate in dynamic folders will be great.
Welcomed audio enhancements for sure.
All in all not a huge release, kinda underwhelming but its easy to think that since the other two A’s are still in “catchup mode”. Well CS7 looks pretty caught up minus a few things.

FWIW, people only mention it here when cracking a joke. Ive tried to play devils advocate and elude them to some of the good features – multi cam,skimmer… but people look at me funny. Truth be told there aren’t alot of FCP legacy fans either but everyone was hoping FCP 8 would be the one to get them off of Avid. Even a wedding videographer i sued to work with in college wont touch it. So Aindreas isnt completely mad, and while i think its still too early to mke that sort of call, it definitely isnt gaining any traction out here even 2 years later.
