    Sorry, I’m not following.

If I highlight all of the AMA files and consolidate, won’t it just give me portions I used in the sequence? I’d actually like the whole file, so I can do further editing.

As to transcoding, if I select an AMA clip (I’m just doing one as a test) and go to consolidate/transcode and just choose transcode, it transcodes my file into the format I select. It automatically creates a new clip in the bin (same name, but with a “.new.01” appended to the name).

But now, how do I make this file the replacement for the original AMA clip?

I feel like I’m missing something simple, since linking a clip to a new file should be pretty easy.

    Thanks!

But…can I use something like this?

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/748788-REG/Sescom_SES_AES_EBU_1_110_Ohm_XLRF_to.html

It’s so much cheaper it makes me think there must be some reason why I cannot…

OK, so the obvious answer (and most likely the problem) was that I am using an analog xlr cable to go into the Kona 3 BOB, which is of course AES/EBU digital.

So, the question is: can I just buy an AES/EBU xlr cable and will that work with my analog mixer? Or is there some kind of convertor I need?

  • Yeah, I’m surprised too. Here’s what I get:

Bad method arguments: loop is not supported for custom properties
    Expression disabled.

I guess the animation of the mask shape is something loop doesn’t handle.

Thanks. This kind of does it, but it’s still not as easy as what’s in After Effects or Premiere Pro.

FCP is supposed to be superior app for editing — not sure why something that simple is missing, though this isn’t the first time I’ve had that experience with FCP.

That’s exactly how I went about doing it. I used the custom brush in PS and saved with an alpha. Then I imported it into AE and auto-traced it. Then I animated.

By far the easiest way, and of course the idea came to me when I wasn’t in front of the computer. Not sure why it always seems to work that way…

    Thanks for input, btw!

    Beautiful, thank you!

But I found it Object > Expand Appearance. I’m on CS5 — perhaps Adobe moved it 🙂

Hey guys, thanks for all the tips! The online help at Adobe does list alternative shortcuts to the ones I’m used to. Good thing, b/c I’m so used to shortcuts I can barely remember how to do some things without them!

I’ve used KB covers in the past for FCP — didn’t realize they make them for AE too. Sweet!
