Sorry, I meant to say “thanks” a couple of weeks ago. I appreciate the help guys. I upgraded to CS4 and all of a sudden, I could import the clips with sound. So the audio data was inside the MPEG-2 files, I just couldn’t see it before. Must have been a codec issue.
Is there a fast way to have the video clips on the timeline “refresh” so that the audio pops onto the first Audio track, aligned with the video clips?
Thanks,

Wagon-wheel effect: that was my third or fourth guess…but I slowed it way down and the problem persists. And it will change directions (occasionally) on a new ram preview, even when I haven’t modified any setting remotely related to the vegas effect.
Maybe the adaptive resolution setting is guessing wrong from frame to frame? Maybe it has to do with random seeding? I unchecked the Random phase box. I’m stumped.

August 10, 2009 at 3:39 pm in reply to: FCP – exporting quicktime HD file to import to AEI’m assuming you are choosing File -> Export -> Using Quicktime, and that you are making the clip “self-contained”.
Have you tried adjusting the “Interpret footage” settings inside AE?
Do you have After Effects on the original computer (the one with FCP)?

You might be able to create an adjustment layer with one of the distortion effects applied. If create a rectangular mask over the top half of the adjustment layer and then feather it out quite a bit, you might be able to make the text look like it is starting to bend away from the camera halfway up the screen.

After Effects doesn’t do anything in true 3D. Anything you import from Photoshop will essentially be flat layers, even if it looks 3D. In other words, it will look fine until you try to rotate around it with a 3D camera.
However, there are work-arounds. These may help:

Thanks, man! Huge time saver!
Your demo reel is amazing. I’ve seen your work on the Truth Project. It’s cool to watch a demo reel and be like, “Hey, I’ve seen that!” Thanks again.

Thanks, Don!
Clarification: I have two days to check it out, but I work during the day, and right after work on Friday I’m taking my youth group kids to a retreat, so tonight is my only chance to play with it.
Basically I just need to verify that this thing really is a healthy camera…it was an Ebay purchase so you never really know if the product description is accurate.
And I do have a cheaper Canon hand held DV camcorder that I plan to use for capture – great advice. I appreciate your input, Don!

Thanks, Thax. Any other ideas out there? The camera arrives today and I’ve pretty much got to OK it tonight.

Wow, Dave – you’re right again! I think I should be paying you consulting fees at this point.
Gracias!
