Wow! Ask a little question, and all hell breaks loose! Now that we’ve got the skinny on the tape, I’ll contact the NYC company about fixing it. Thanks for the help, and I and my network thanks you!

actually, the tape seems to be stuck somehow, I can’t get it to rewindin the 1200 deck, but in trying to do it manually, I’m not sure if I need to release a brake to allow the reels to spin. More advise needed here.

Regarding the tape stock, when I bought the Varicam three years ago, the sales engineer that came out to train me on the camera told me there was no difference in the tape at all, outside of the case color, and it was their “little secret”.

Hey, thanks for the input. That’s what we’re doing. I had hoped there might be some trick I didn’t know about.

    Walter:
I’ve gone from bad to worse. I seached found a suggested fix. I dumped the quicktme receipts as specified, downloaded the new QT and reinstalled. Now when I do to audio video setting in FCP and try to go to the DVCPro HD output, I get a prompt from FCP that says, “Unable to open the spevified video output device”,
Can you suggest my next move?

Thanks for the help. Good news, bad news. I tried your method, and it worked on the very first reel. I was thrilled! Went to do the same thing on the other 7, and nothing. Same message as before. I watched Shane’s tutorial and then looked at my files in finder, and noticed that the last file on the list wasn’t always the last one modified, so I went back and changed the LASTCLIP.TXT, but I’m still getting the same message. The footage on the first reel looks great, and I’ve got to think I can somehow get the rest. What can I try next? This is the pilot for a new HD series, and I really could use that footage.
