    i guys:

I recently upgraded to FC 5.1 from 4.5. After working with it a few days, I discovered I can’t get video into my Panasonic 1200a thru the firewire port as I could before. I can get video FROM the 1200a into FC no prob, but it won’t go back in. I see audio, the meteres bounce, but just a black screen. I upgraded yesterday to 5.1.2 and that didn’t seem to help any. I’ve tried other settinggs to no avail. I can get HDSDI out from my Kona 2 card into the 1200a, but no firewire. Panasonic says it’s an Apple/FC software issue. I’ve looked at the external video tab and verified it’s on “all frames” . Nada. Help!

Sounds like the Quicktime / Firewire issue that affected some systems after the 5.1 update. Do a search on here for FCP 5.1 Firewire and you’ll find the threads. It’s a quick fix, but I don’t recall it offhand as it never happened to me.

    Walter:
I’ve gone from bad to worse. I seached found a suggested fix. I dumped the quicktme receipts as specified, downloaded the new QT and reinstalled. Now when I do to audio video setting in FCP and try to go to the DVCPro HD output, I get a prompt from FCP that says, “Unable to open the spevified video output device”,
Can you suggest my next move?
