I think you will have to do it all with XPresso and not use any deformers at all. This seems to be one of those classical world coordinates vs. local coordinates things, which C4D does not handle in a clean manner. For a bend on your main spline, you’d simply use sinus and cosinus multiplied by an incremental factor for each point.

Like Adam said – growth/ length is a material property, you have to animate it there.

If you need to imitate the motion, animate the Fractal Noise’s position along Y, then apply a mesh warp effect after it. Using some simple adjustments, you should be able to make the Noise follow the contours of a face or whatever.

Check if your firewall or virus scanner are not blocking Adobe Cleanup (License and Activation manager).

Yes, You are so right. Completely forgot. Grid Lines may work.

If you want realism, build a model and blow it up. Complement this with additional stuff you shoot with a real camera (debris, fire, dust clouds) and put everything together in compositing. ;o) If you mean realistic as in “I have no time and budget and need to do it in C4D”, the explosion deformer is a good plce to start. Also figure in Thinking Particles (PShatter) and the Dynamics module (or PhyTools, respectively).

[max_iqueu] “Would there be a way to do something with Expressions or any other way for the grid to
only be effected by the highlights of the fractal noise background?”

Expressions cannot acces pixel data. What you have to do is tu unmultiply your Fractal Noise using XMult or similar tools. Once it has Alpha information, it’s much easier to tweak it.

[max_iqueu] “Would there be an efficent way to really make the light particles follow the grids path?”

Not in AE. You need a 3D program for that. Depending on what you are rtrying to do, you may get some simplistic stuff using Trapcode’s Particualr with the Path mode, but everything else is really not for AE.

[espinoza] “but youre saying xfrog would likely be able to react to wind?”

It’s fake wind. You animate the orientation of the branches via a Wind parameter.

[espinoza] “also, we downloaded the demo, it seems to only be able to build, it doesnt come with any textures or plant models. this is a not for profit job, but to have at their models that ship with xfrog, are we going to have to buy the full thing?”

Yes, you have to buy them or find some examples by users on the web.

[Pascal Desfoux] “Do I need a special plugin to be able to analyse the lightness of the lighting layer ?”

Yes, you do. Digital Anarchy’s Anarchy Toolbox, Color Sampler.

January 24, 2007 at 8:02 pm in reply to: weird problem with blending mode in AE7

[Ultimate Bart] “i found the solution to this problem anyway, YOU CAN’T CHOOSE BETWEEN THOSE BLENDING MODES, EN APPLY THEM , WHEN YOU HAVE OPENGL RENDER/PREVIEUW SETTING ON, VERY WEIRD. BUT THANXS ANYWAY”

In that case the bad guy is your graphics card. Those blending modes are supported in OpenGL by AE itself (only 2 or 3 are not and they are exotic ones).
