    [George Masters] “For all this focus on the interface what happened to twirl-down comps?”

    Nope. Maybe in the next release (though I personnaly don’t understand people’s desire for this type of stuff – it only increases clutter and even in the editing apps I know you cannot directly edit the content of such “containers” on the timeline without opening the container, you can only do trimming and sliding).

    loopOut(“continue”,0);

    Use it all the time, dunno why it doesn’t work for you.

    Not to many changes. A few methods have been renamed and a few previous read-only attributes can now also be written, but no support for more advanced stuff.

    You were dreaming. Some simple logic might have answered your own question: When was that technology licensed? Not too long ago. So would it have been possible to integrate it in let’s say half a year without completely screwing AE’s API? Most likely not. So there you go. It’s regretable that it hasn’t happened, but if we all keep our fingers crossed for the next release, it may still come true.

    I think you all are missing the one important thing: Development of a tool is not about fullfilling every users wishes, it’s about integrating it into the overall strategy and product portfolio of a company. Though I would have adressed many other points first before even moving to 32bpc or integrating OpenGL 2, I must give credit to Adobe that in a way the overall feature set makes sense.

    The other thing you are also not considering is the timeframe. At one point features have to be “nailed” to shove the product out of the door. Adobe could retire to their dark cellar and develop the perfect AE for 3 years, but in the meantime it would loose all its existing users because they don’t get any advancement.

    So please stay calm. I understand your disappointment, but it’s quite possible that we will see some of your dream features in the next release and with the big overhaul already been done with this version, it should be much sooner than the gap from AE 6.5 to AE 7.

    Not that I know of but since according to your profile you have Premiere, you may have some luck with the audio tools there.

    You should be able to change direction by inverting the start and end values of animators in most cases. For path based text simply reverse the path direction as usual.

    January 17, 2006 at 10:31 am in reply to: cinema 4d files into AE?

    What do you wanna do? You cannot import 3D geometry into AE (not sans Invigorator Pro, that is). Cinema 4D will only allow you to output Cameras and lights for reference and matching AE stuff to C4D, but you still need to render your images in C4D.
