cinema 4d files into AE?

What do you wanna do? You cannot import 3D geometry into AE (not sans Invigorator Pro, that is). Cinema 4D will only allow you to output Cameras and lights for reference and matching AE stuff to C4D, but you still need to render your images in C4D.

Hi Ollie,

Mylenium is correct, you can’t import any models from C4D. But the camera / lighting integration works a treat for inserting additional elements into your scene. (It’s also great if you create seperate passes for shadow, specular etc)

1) In C4D render settings tick the “compositing project file” After effects.
2) Download the C4D plugin for AE (look on Maxon’s site)
3) In AE open the corresponding .aec file.
4) Voila. You will now have a timeline containing your (pre-rendered 3D scene) + camera, lights etc.

Tip : placing (dummy) lights in your scene is a great way to position your AE 3d layers in the correct 3D space (via expressions / parenting).
