AE 7 and Silhouette Roto
Had heard that After Effects 7.0 would be incorporating the roto tools from Silhouette Roto. Have not found any reference to this in the “new features” descriptions. So did I just dream this or are they in there somewhere?

You were dreaming. Some simple logic might have answered your own question: When was that technology licensed? Not too long ago. So would it have been possible to integrate it in let’s say half a year without completely screwing AE’s API? Most likely not. So there you go. It’s regretable that it hasn’t happened, but if we all keep our fingers crossed for the next release, it may still come true.

Right – gFX was the standalone roto/paint system that Adobe licensed the technology to. But Adobe never made any claims that it would be integrated with AE.
But, you can already get similar (and in many ways better) technology integrated into AE NOW with our Silhouette plugin for AE.

Right. And Silhouette rocks. Why wait for Adobe to get on the ball — just buy Roto.

Yeah… curious GFX that was the one I must have been thinking of. Roto looks great. After the ringing endorsements here I suppose I should pick it up. Thanks all!
