It should update no problem when applied to the material channles and to the background object. Just make sure you properly have input the animation parameters for the texture.

[espinoza] “but basically there is no way to selectively make only one point bezier out of many straight ones.”
That’s mathematically impossible. In that case you would have to have two separate curves blended together. Even in other programs such as Illustrator you have Beziers and straight elements are created by breaking tangents and setting their length to zero, which answers you second question. Ideally a straight segemnet should have no visible tangent at the incoming/ outgoing segemnets, but since that’s not practical, it’s usually good enough to line the tangents up with the segemnt itself and make it look straight.

You could do that or use Trapcode’s Echospace. This would allow you to aniamte all the parameters and give you a wide variety of those kaleidoscopic effects.

I suppose there is some extra smoothing going on. Have you tried to subdivide the spline to get it smoother?

Break the tangents by holding down Shift while dragging the handles. This allows you to insert straight segemnets in Beziers.

Make sure the comp you are tracking is only as long as your really need. Since AE can’t directly accesss the footage item, it may not release the tracker until it reaches the end of the comp. Also apply a dummy effect (Point expression control) as a target, this often helps. The behavior of the tracker is somewhat inconsistent with this type of stuff – sometimes it works, sometimes it won’t.

November 10, 2006 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Why when I output does SLOW MOTION footage look hazy and wobbly?Well, that really depends. Avid systems for instance have options to duplicate/ merge fields and reverse the field order. I other programs it may be called differently. Thing is, that the effects/ routines used for slowmo and sppedup stuff are usually not aware of the field order once the footage is on the edit suite, so you need to tell them again that you are e.g. handling NTSC footage on a NTSC system with lower fields first.
