    Great advice Walter!

It was a little overwhelming but I see the light. I have been building an idea and shooting for a pilot of my TV show concept for three years. So, I wear all the hats, I always feel better when I hire a pro in his/her specific field to help me out.

Great advice on hiring people that you think are better/ smarter than you, you can learn from them on the job.

I plan to buy a pretty good editing system this year and put in in an office so when I am not using it I can rent out the station to others.

oh sorry Shane, I meant the connection to the main monitors. In the past I had to have either two video cards or a dual monitor video card for my mac. I have not run PC monitors on a mac before so I am wondering about the connections.

It looks like the base video card in the G-5 is a dual DVI card which is the same input for the Dell.

For the reference monitor I will probably run an AJA card.

    Thanks again,
    Brian

    Thanks Shane,

They actually use those at the last two compositing jobs I was at for Shake and Fusion.

Does this require a special card? I am about to buy a new G-5.

    Thanks,

I had the same problem with that camera so I rented a JVC deck. I still could not capture. There may be some issues capturing 720p or even converting to 1080i. I made many posts in this and the HDV and JVC forums but found no answers, other tan to make sure I had the very latest version of FCP with all the right quicktime codecs. I hired an editor and captured via a KONA card. the footage is beautiful.
    Good luck,

Just as a follow up. I had the footage captured via a kona card to high def, DVC PRO HD and it is very nice, I then down converted from the timeline to 720×4800 for rough edit.

    Thanks all,
