  • Problems digitizing with JVC GY-HD100 camera

    Hi Everybody

In a few days I’m satrting the editing of a short feature shooted in HDV.Yesyerday I tried (I never worked ih HDV before) to digitize an HDV material shooted in a JVC GY-HD100 camera in HDV 720 24p format.

I used the easy setup in FCP HDV 720P and I’m using the camera as a deck. I have the HDV option selected on the camera body.

The main problem is that FCP (5.1.3) doesn’t recognize the camera, the external A/V window appears with the “deck/camera disconected” message.

If you can help me, please illuminate me on what I have to check.

The guys who shooted the material, used a Sony miniDV tape, and the machine I was using is a G5 Dual 2.5Ghz with 2.5G RAM. It doesn’t have external hard drives, it works with a second 500 G. SATA internal drive.

I don’t know the lack of fastest Hard Drives is what is causing the problem. I’m trying to move to an FCP with Xserve Raid in another facility.

Thanks in advance for the help

I had the same problem with that camera so I rented a JVC deck. I still could not capture. There may be some issues capturing 720p or even converting to 1080i. I made many posts in this and the HDV and JVC forums but found no answers, other tan to make sure I had the very latest version of FCP with all the right quicktime codecs. I hired an editor and captured via a KONA card. the footage is beautiful.
    Good luck,
    Brian
