If you are having issues with your drive, back up anything important. now.
If you need to get a new drive, make sure it will work with your system. I would go to a reputable local mac dealer and buy one there. They can probably install it for you too.
Also, 1GB of RAM is not very much these days. You might want to consider buying more RAM, especially if you are doing editing on it.
I would say that you are almost to the point of replacing the whole thing if you can afford it. The speed difference would be huge.

Color is a great tool, unfortunately, it is still on version 1, and has not been updated significantly since being rolled into FCS2 over a year ago. One main issue that has prevented us from using it, is that there is a problem going back and forth from FCP. Once you CC a sequence in Color and send it back to FCP, sending it back to Color for adjustments has issues.

    PS.
    It is pronounced noo-klee-er….

I dont think I could support me and my family for less then 2500/ week as a freelancer… LA is expensive, and if you have kids, that means private schools, if you live in an LAUSD area.
Have tried doing a cost of living comparison for London to LA?

I’d agree, 1500/wk is pretty low unless you are working North Dakota, and are getting fully bennie’s…

August 12, 2008 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Non-compete clauses ruled illegal in CA

I had a prospective employer want me to sign a non-compete agreement, for the WHOLE WEST COAST!!! I told him that doesn’t fly in our industry, so he responded by excluding California(where I’m from) in the agreement… That was a deal breaker for me…

I’ve found there are some people in this business, who really don’t understand…

  • I would love to have better input and output modules for FCP. Like someone said, why can’t I see the TC and audio levels?

I personally prefer a tablet, but if I can’t use a tablet (like when I’m on my laptop) I prefer the Logitech G5. Don’t go cheap on a mouse, get something that uses a good laser. The G5 is a gaming mouse and is super accurate. Plus you add or remove weights to your preference.

Some people get a little bit of info, and they become dangerous. Especially to themselves…

    LOL Robert…

I stayed at the Orleans once for NAB… that was the last time our office manager was allowed to make travel arrangements for us… The funny thing is,you think you are saving money with room rate, but you end up paying for it in cab fares… (It’s WAAAAY off the strip…)
