[rich krysz] Apple stopped caring about customers a long time ago…

I’m starting to believe the same. In place where I live with only one Apple Centre, they decided to
move their shop to new and flashy shopping centre and they decided to close their service department.
If one needed a service, he’d have to send his Mac to their main shop in Melbourne, which means
4- 5 days without machine, whilst before, it was a one day job, sometime on the spot.
Now their Center looks like any other mobile phone shop – iPods, accessories and now iPhone.

<[Mike Schrengohst] "It may not be a concern to Apple. It is a concern to me. And I am the customer. " Then perhaps you should walk into an Apple store, stamp your feet, and shout at the top of your lungs, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!". >

No need to stamp your feet, just walk away with your feet.
If they are nor listening, go get Adobe, if Encore is solution, and we are already using After Effects,
Photoshop, few more winners on Premire’s side and that’s it – complete solution in Adobe.
    Are you listening Mr Jobs.

That’s right, we know what has become a main concern for them, share price and growth, of course,
but where is the time when Apple was leading in innovation; first to put burner in their machines,
first to add USB, first to add firewire, first to add DVD burning.
It looks like (as many of us were afraid of) we are paying for success of iPod, iTunes and iPhone,
we are to small market segment. We can easily be ignored.

It’s said Apple, after all those years of loyal support.

July 2, 2008 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Backing up multiple hard drives

    Thanks Jerry,

Yes, one is a boot disc (Macintosh HD).
That means, partition for bootable to be Journalled,
and other partition to be Journalling Off. Correct?

I used Super Duper to make a bootable copy, and that might have caused problems.
It was never bootable, and every time after the back up. my G5 would freeze.
After forced quit (switch button) Mac (Finder) would struggle to open any
    window let alone an application.
Apparently, Mac would just be hanging – not being able to establish from which drive to run.

Mac technician suggested a faulty drive? Data is there, but it’s not bootable.

Would Carbon Copy cloner be better or should I use WD Anywhere Backup (supplied with my Western Digital), or maybe something like retrospect?

    Matt,

Firstly, good luck, it’s a great business to be in.
Can be a bit stressful (as you might have already noticed) but very rewarding at the end.

EXPOs – To expect a proper response, an expo has to be prepared properly.
If it was your first expo, then you probably got a room for improvement.
Research web for sites that tell you how to prepare for an Expo, they are usually busines
    development sort of sites.
For us was very helpful the fact that we started in corporate video first, and we’ve had our expo strategy polished already.
Briefly, good demo playing on a decent size TV (hire if you don’t have a good one).
Print material for the expo; business cards (not home made) , brochures, price list etc.
Talk to them on the expo.
Finally, prepare a demo DVD to give them, or ask them register and them post the demo DVD
    with thank you.
    Always follow up!

There are other venues of advertising (better to say marketing), and heaps of that is available for research on the internet.
Study your competitors as well, or business in other regions or states for that matter.

    Cheers

    Great news Shane,
I wonder if they (Apple or Matrox) knew (or bother if they knew) how many people were
discouraged from buying either of those two great products just because of that incompatibility,

    Thanks

My supplier only offers Sony, not Fuji, I’ll have to do a search (we Down Under don’t have as many options).

November 19, 2007 at 10:45 pm in reply to: HDV capture anomaly with XH-A1 and FCP

This is exactly how I feel; with DV I felt like “at home”, but HD/V has just too many flavours,
too many proprietary codecs/formats, too much hassle.
Things are meant too be simpler not more complicated,
I feel like we are going backwards, in terms of a process, system, but yes,
in terms of picture quality we are better of.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me, I might just sit a little bit
    longer.

I was thinking maybe too buy a XH A1 and shoot in DV mode until I’m ready for next step,
but again, read somewhere that XH A1 is not perfect in DV mode.

Yes, I’m doing the same, but it’s my trusty Firestore that gives me the confidence
of finding the complete footage later.

In fact that new 63min Master is for HDV as well?

    Thanks Don.

< Donald Berube: Try using a higher grade of tape when recording HDV. >

What’d be a higher grade tape Donald?

Don, where are you getting al those info, shouldn’t we all know about it? I was using 83 min
master Panasonic, until they were discontinued, I wonder why, thinking I’m doing good
thing, 83 minutes, master quality, less handling of the transport tape system (ejecting 63 min tape is more often than 83 min).
I remember your info about GL2 and XL1s having same tape transport system.
Friend of mine (XLs1) was told specificaly not to use 83 min tapes after his transport system gone south.
I was told nothing (on my 2 GL2 cameras recently getting serviced for the same thing).

    Thanks

    Mio
