I blogged about this, but I’m not sure how many people read my blog, so I’ll post this information here…

With the most recent Mac OS Update, OSX 10.5.2, the Matrox MXO is now compatible with all Mac models, INCLUDING the new MacBook Pros. Finally.

To get this to work, the following is REQUIRED:

    Update to Leopard 10.5.2
Then Update to Leopard Graphic Update 1.0
Then install the Matrox MXO 2.1.1 drivers.

This has been tested by Matrox and according to them, it works. This has always been a thorn in my side, as I try to recommend this great box, only to have to tell people, “sorry, it doesn’t work with the new MacBook Pro models.”

And if you want to read my blog, it is located here at the Cow under BLOGS, or you can click on Underdog.

    Great news Shane,
I wonder if they (Apple or Matrox) knew (or bother if they knew) how many people were
discouraged from buying either of those two great products just because of that incompatibility,

    Thanks

    Mick

Shame it means an upgrade to Leopard. I for one am not rushing into that, so will still delay my purchase of the mxo.

I rather ask myself if it forces QT 7.4 upon you, which still has issues. Leopard is quite OK by now.

Shane, thanks for posting this here… My reading list is way to long to read every blog..

This news is what I have been waiting for. I have the 2.4 MacBook Pro.. So what would you recommend for a monitor,,, The Dell or Apple 23″ If I remember correctly the latest Dell has the DVi and HD component inputs priced at $600 bucks…

Did I read on DVXuser that you are the proud owner of a new HVX200?? If so, welcome to the party. I have had mine only 6 weeks and it is making HD Spots and HD money…. but don’t tell any of those PC-Sony guys…

[Nate Stephens] “what would you recommend for a monitor,,, The Dell or Apple 23″”

For the MXO you really need to get the Apple 23″. The MXO is designed to work with that monitor, and it has the proper 59.94 refresh rate, not the 60hz refresh of the Dell. I tested both and like the ACD better.

And yes, I have an HVX-200. Well, I had one for a few weeks, then returned it to Panasonic (loaner), but will be getting my camera soon. Love it.

Well, apparently I was a little gung ho and announced it BEFORE it was official. Here is the official press release from Matrox, with a link to the MXO 2.1.1 drivers
