It doesn’t. My working lion computer for the last year runs on gigabyte mb, at my studio there is only one mac pro and 7 os x computers running on gigabyte or asus motherboards. Just google hackintosh. After waiting for 45 days for burnt mac pro board replacement I can’t afford to buy apple hardware anymore. But osx is stable and virus free.

In any, ANY circumstances, ALWAYS, even when using mirrored raid, keep the copy of ALL the footage on cheap Hard disks in the safe place. Or be sure that client do this. Then even if your raid would crash (i do not know a person in our business who didn’t have a raid crash once) you’ll be safe. I often use raid 0 setup, but I do not think about possible crash as I have a copy of important footage at hand. The shooting day is much more expensive than couple of hdds.

It strictly depends on what are you going to do with that stuff at smoke/flame workstation and mostly on delivery format. If you plan to send it to film printer after all – log DPX + display LUT is a must. If you just add graphics on top and convert it to 1080p for broadcast – then 16 bit linear tiff sequence is enough.

    1. Try to media manage offline. Open new project in fcp and save xml without reconnecting offline media. Load resolve – add isis path to prefs. Reload resolve. Import xml, point to isis when asked for media.

    2. If didnt help. Try to browse manually isis storage and load more than 50 clips to media pool from isis. Make default timeline and try to play and put some grades. If ok, make one shot xml from fcp and try to load it. If ok make 10 shot xml and load it. If ok than probably there are some broken footage which causes crash if not – I dont know.

You should throw out dvd. Then you can connect the 6 pin – to molex using dvd power.

It will run good as GUI card. Much better than 120. The problem could be only in PCI slots available. The computer should be Win or Hackintosh, not Mac Pro (as far as I know). I have GT440 for gui inside mackintosh.

Go to Preferences/Debug and paste it there. Then reload resolve and enjoy.
