I was using the effect that you mentioned, using the 3D stroke with the mask shape… I’ve tried leaving it open ended and still can’t get the results I am looking for…

    Back to the drawing board!

    Cheers..

Thanks for the reply, but when I do this it gives me really weird morphing results… it does start and finish in the shapes I want, but the morphing in between is really weird and not looking at all like I want it to… when it goes from the “I” shape to the “S” it turns into something that looks like a rubber band instead of remaining a solid bar…

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks again!

  • Hey..

Def a good start… but I really HATE the way the “St John Fisher” text comes in…you can come up with much better then that… Also, I think the steeple would look better if it transitioned in without movement, seeing it’s a building…

Are there any tutorials for this type of effect/compostion?

That particular clip is pretty long, I can’t imagine the best way to go about making that! Did they make the entire design in photoshop and then cut it up and fit it together in diff comps onto one big stage?

I saw a similar effect on CSI once…. they had a bullet trail that was a spiral that looked very cool… I recreated the effect and it came out perfect…

all I did was create the bullet in Photoshop, and also make the spiral trail which was just a white spiral that was the length of the entire bullet path with a low opacity… then I brought that into after effects and made the bullet move in a 3d layer… the bullet trail was on laid over the video, and the bullet was followed by a gradient mask that revealed the trail as the bullet moved… i guess you could feather the mask for the same effect….

Hope that helps in some way….

Thanks for the replies… I know someone with Procoder so I’ll drop over to his studio for this rip…

Once I convert the files to Avi, and make my changes in AE… what is the best method to export them from AE to burn onto a DVD again with max quality?

    Thanks again!

No… There is no option for No Compression… if there was, what format would that be in? Do you know of any ripping software that offers that option?

Thanks for all of your help, very appreciated!

Hey thanks for the quick reply…

I kinda figured that there would be some loss of quality there along the way somewhere… but I am still wondering which codec to use when ripping, I can’t seem to find an uncompressed option.. I am using AOA DVD Ripper and it gives me these codec options:

    Cinepak by radius
    Intel Indo Video 4.5
    Microsoft Video 1
    h264 – H264/ AVC encoder
    VP70 General Profile
Canopus DV Codec for DVBooster Pack
    DivX 6.4.0

    Any of these worthwhile?

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried using “Wondertouch Particle Illusion”? There are some things in that program that you might be able to play with in AE to get the effect you are looking for..

    Hey…

Was I the only one to notice “Original” was spelled wrong?

The reel is ok tho, you’ve got a good start on things….

I wouldn’t mind a few opinions on mine either from the AE community, if anyone has the time for a look… any and all feedback is appreciated!
