Im having the same problem with your same workflow that has ALWAYS worked in the past… Spoke to apple people and nothing… I understand all the media manager “haters” out there… and i understand that us with problems make up a small population of users… but this is still ridiculous… what worked before should still work today. APPLE FIX THIS PLEASE!!!!

Having the same problem here and its getting very old quick. HUGE project and eveytime it goes to another machine with a copy of all the source files, the “reconncet files in relative path” does not work. I must do them one at a time. Ive spoken to someone at apple about this and he had me try other things like exporting an xml and rebuilding a project file from that. I am running FCP 6 and this is happening. Ive noticed that if I do a FINDER copy of the capture scratch contents rather than a media manager copy, it SOMETIMES works. Im convinced that it is a glitch is FCP 6 because i have never had it happen to me before and i have always used this method. I am getting very frustrated with this software and and beginning to wonder why i am messing with it. I love apple and i love FCP but this and other stupid glitches are really turning me off. WE NEED THIS FIXED. ok im done venting…

August 7, 2007 at 2:03 pm in reply to: P2 offload times…. does this sound right to you guys? Thanks everyone for your responses. I dont know what is going on over on my end. But now that i hear some of you are getting even 2gb/min there is no way i am going to settle for these super long times im suffering now. I am going to try a bunch of different things with different drive and other powerbooks and see what conclusive findings i can come up with. I will then post so you guys can maybe have a little more info on what could be going wrong. Once again I appreciate the help.

Ok guys so heres my immediate problem. I have a DVCPROHD 720p60 timeline with 2 types of footage on it. first there is 24p footage shot from hdx900s. The footage doe NOT have the pulldown removed, so it is still in its “over 60” state. The other is footage from a hvx200 @ 60fps 60p. As mentioned above, output to a quicktime file is playing back with a stutter.
At this point I simply want a workaround to get a smooth playing quicktime file. But ultimitley I would like to know of any other problems using this workflow (keeping all footage “over60” and editing on a 60 timeline.)
-I know im burning 2x the disk space
-I know this is more demanding on the computer.
-now this quicktime problem. Why do we do stuff this way you ask? we shoot 2 cams above water @ 24 for the look. But shoot an underwater cam @ 60 to be able to capture fast moving fish. We want the option to playback underwater footage slowed down, or in real time.
Any info would greatly be appreciated as i am looking to back my argument on this end. Thanks guys!

I am using footage from HDX900s and HVX200s. I have never removed pulldown and simply edited in 60p. beleive it or not… your comment just bumped my brain and i had an apifiny. Why not remove pulldown from the 60p fooatage and shoot my HVX in PN at 24 or 30fps (depending on shoot). With FCP 6 i have been mixing 60p footage with 24pn footage. I have no idea why just now this is becoming clear. but what can i do about projects i have already edited? re capture? will time remaps and effects be messed up?
Thanks for the response

Instead of using the Cinema display as a preview monitor. Would it be possible to sacrifice one of my displays, and use one of the DVIs out of my Quad into my HD DLP TV using a DVI-HDMI converter? Would that work.
