Premiere CS3 cannot import Mpeg 1, layer 3 (Mp3), 64 kbps/44,100 mono, CBR audio. Video shows fine, but Properties shows no audio.
Premiere Elements 4 can. -

I know of at least a dozen external USB drives used in video production without issue. Firewire drives can complicate capturing via Firewire. -

Sure, just stick with Sata if you can or USB not firewire..
Using an external drive with 2 computers requires that the drive letter remains constant..you can change drive letters manually (Computer Management Console>Disk Management).

I dont believe any software can be put in the same evil class as Norton, AOL and possibly Roxio.

I have tried most NLE’s on systems with Premiere without conflict as long as they are not running at the same time. At the worst, the first NLE opened will tie up Window’s support for DirectShow (DV) capture and device control. You may not enough horsepower or RAM to have Edius rendering while trying to edit in Premiere, but try it.

This attitude has been going on since ever, when the tools you used was more important than your skills. Years ago, it was all about client perception; clients were educated to ask if you used Avid and would snub their noses at an editor using Premiere.
Much of that has changed and the debate is now more among editors about features and capabilities and a bit about platforms. The Premiere vs FCP competition is quite productive, driving both vendors to create a better product. There are shortcomings in both products, driving customers to the other side.
The waters are getting much murkier with Apple using Intel and enabling Windows OS.
I dont snub nor do I feel snubbed. -
I am wondering if the 16:9 thingy is causing the problem; converting to square pixels in Photoshop, the .psd should be 1038×576. If it is 720×576, wont it get stretched quite a bit.
Just drawing at straws. -
A Google search indicates the file is either part of Nero (Video encoding) or Malware. Kill it either way (uninstall Nero).
