Editing Camtasia in Premiere involves creating a custom Desktop editing mode Project Settings that match the dimensions and framerate of your Camtasia project. Also involves exporting from Camtasia an intermediate video file that will get recompressed again…2 generation losses.
It is so much easier and the results will look better if you edit and export your final .wmv from Camtasia.
If you insist on editing in Premiere, export from Camtasia as uncompressed.avi, edit in Premiere and export using Windows Media Video Screen 9 codec with the same size and frame rate as the original. -
Camtasia is designed to create video for playback on a PC monitor or projector. It is also very capable of editing imported or captured video as well as exporting as well or better than Premiere.
Output for DVD using video from Camtasia is fraught with issues involving clear images and text due to 2 recompressions and resolution downsizing. -
It is a bit easier to do in AE, but can be done in Premiere. Put your video clip in V1 and a duplicate copy in V2 over the clip in V1. desaturate the clip in V1 to make it gray scale. Apply a 8 point garbage matte to the clip in V2 and toggle animation on for each point. Use the matte to outline your flower, changing the location of its points over time.

The histogram for a frame of SD video just does not represent very many pixels (345,600), unlike digital photos where many millions are represented. Further, if the distribution of pixels across the luminance scale is somewhat even…then there is little curves.

Just a quick test exporting an SD clip from CS3/ MC 3.1 Encore CS3 imported it fine with 4 “Dont Transcode” listed in the Project window for the .m2v file.
