You can “Normalize” an audio clip, but not the track. Right click on each audio clip and choose Audio Gain and then the Normalize button.

While previewing your video from the timeline, use the * key on the numerical keypad to set timeline markers. You can double click each marker and add comments.

Only the Program window preview can be output to an external TV via firewire to either a camcorder or other converter that can output an analog SD signal to a TV.

Bring up Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), select the Performance tab and wonder no more.

The primary purpose of file extensions is Windows and it’s effort to associate various file types with the applications associated with them as well as Windows Explorer displaying the correct info in the “Type” column.. This is called File Association. Other than that, the File extensions do not alter the contents of the file.
You could assign .doc to a video file and if the video codec is installed on your PC, Media Player will play it, but you will be confused when looking for various file types.

Premiere can edit some highly compressed codecs like Windows Media Video, but not DIVX or XVID. I would not go thru the time to uncompress a video if Premiere can import it. The quality is going to be crap (for professional use) regardless.
Except for QT Animation and Microsoft uncompressed, most video codecs are lossy. The more compression, the more lossy. -

You made too many assumptions from my questions. I have not figured out your problem yet. I suspect the issue might be with the audio track, which I assume is a separate file.
What are the properties of this audio clip? Is the sync problem far off (a frame or 2, or more? and is the error constant or does it increase over time. -
You can also edit your entire project in Camtasia unless you are needing effects like color correction. While camtasia is not a full fledged NLE, you can surely slice and dice video, do titles and other overlays in it.

What is the frame rate of your Project Settings, your source video and your export settings? They all should match.

Sounds like you are doing things correctly…it is viewing the finished project that is your problem. Widescreen can only be viewed correctly on a stand alone DVD player that has been set to widescreen. Some players will do this automatically, others not.
PC monitors only display square pixels and yours are very not.
