I have never seen the PgC error (upon build) with CS2 or CS3. Recently built a new PC (3.0 core2) and installed CS3…Premiere/Encore works fine building a dozen or so DVDs.
Installed CS4, all worked fine building a dozen or so DVDs. Then the dreaded PGC error started in Encore on everything exported from Premiere via AME.I am slowly coming to the conclusion that the problem is faulty .m2v files from AME.
I can export from Cs3; Encore CS3 and CS4 work fine.
I can export from CS4; both CS3 and CS4 Encore builds fail.
To debunk the XMPES theories I imported a CS4 .m2v file into Encore 2.0 on another PC and the build failed with the PGC error.All test builds used just the .m2v file and no menus.

Why are you exporting as DV? DV is an acquisition format and not designed for local playback. Try H264 at about 3 mbps or export as Mpeg 2 DVD and judge on a TV.
“Fit” in the Program window is scrunching your photos for preview. Digitally re sized images are prone to artifacts and aberrations when viewed in Premiere or Photoshop and worse at anything other than 25,50 or 75%. At 100% (native resolution) you will only be able to see only a small fraction of your images but the preview will be accurate.
What are your images 2000×1312, have they been resized already using a lossy codec like Jpeg?

Are you judging quality with Premiere’s Program window? What are your export settings?

I will bet you cant record audio in ANY application including Windows Sound Recorder…get that to work and other apps will work.
Go to Control Panel>Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices.
Choose the Audio tab, click the Volume Button for Sound Recording. This brings up the Recording Control, make sure Mic Volume is not muted or missing.
If Mic Volume is missing, choose Options>Properties and check Mic Volume. -

Create a track matte in Photoshop, same size as your project…divided vertically, left half pure white, right half pure black with a fat feathered edge in the middle.
Put this V3 over your video clips. Apply the Track Matte effect to V2. In the Effects Controls for the Track Matte effect, choose Luma as the type and V3 as the location of the matte. Choose Reverse if things are backwards. -
You can delete all the media cache, Premiere will rebuild what is needed as it is needed and it wont take long.
Dont put the Media Cache location preference on a drive that you might remove or change its drive letter by adding or removing another drive…you dont need the pain.
