All you did was log the clips you want, you did not capture anything yet. Reconnect the camera with the tape in it and then select all the clips in the project window and press F6 (Batch capture).

AME is mostly Main Concept and is fine but not the best. Main Concept sells a plug-in for Premiere (CS3) for $499. One can spend up to several thousand $ for software encoders and much more for hardware encoders.

Suspect the audio is mono and in Audio Track 4…scroll down to delete it.

HDV is an acquisition format, not an export option, but many formats like Mpeg 2, H264 and Windows Media Video offer several Presets for HDTV.
The Presets are available underneath the Format options in the Export Settings window.

We could use some computer specs as well as properties for your source video and export settings.
On a average system like my Core 2Duo 3.0, most SD DV video gets encoded to Mpeg 2 DVD is less than real time, even with Levels applied. -
Open a new sequence with a DV Widescreen Preset and import your HDV footage. You will need to resize the HDV footage to 33%.
On export choose “use Maximaum Render Qua;lity” from the wing fly out menu in the Export Settings window for best deinterl;acing.
Rendering will take a long time. -

Your Project Settings must match your DV source; one of the 8 DV Presets, 4 PAL and 4 NTSC.
The Device Control settings (Edit>Preferences>Device Control) should match your camera; Devices=DV/HDV Device control…Options= Video Standard (NTSC or PAL), Device Brand and Type= Sony, D170.

This is normal. You must choose External Device Audio from Playback settings to export audio to Tape.

What kind of file??…are you opening an existing Project or importing files into a project. Some projects take up to 20 minutes to open. -
The “Motion” effect controls both Scale and Position. It is already available for each clip in the Effects Controls palette. Just click “toggle animation” buttons for both Scale and Position.

Pro formats like XDCam or P2 are larger files and can be edited just fine.
