  • Converting from HDV to DV for editing… best settings?

Posted by Matt Sonberg on June 4, 2009 at 2:19 pm

I have bunch of footage from a show that was shot in HDV. I need to convert it to DV so that I can edit it and produce a DVD. What are the best settings to use if I’m working in PPro CS4? Obviously I’m looking to maintain as much quality as possible.

Open a new sequence with a DV Widescreen Preset and import your HDV footage. You will need to resize the HDV footage to 33%.
On export choose “use Maximaum Render Qua;lity” from the wing fly out menu in the Export Settings window for best deinterl;acing.
Rendering will take a long time.

To save rendering, why not capture the vision as DV, getting the camera to do hardware conversion in real time?
