Markers must be numbered and have names (in Pro) for Encore to see them.

If by “droputs” you refer to dropped frames, this is the bane of exporting to tape. It is you PC that is not playing every frame. Drefaging all drives and disabling all background apps, especially virus scans and network conections should help. Make sure you hard drives are less than 80% full. I dont do export to tape any longer. If a customer wants a VHS copy, I will dub from a DVD.
The picture issue is wierd…what hardware capture card are you using? What size are your stills? And are you using a Premiere transition?

The quality should not degrade with editing.

One workaround is to insert the Sequence icon (from the Project Window) into a new Sequence….there the lift command will work as there is only one track (the nested sequence).

As long as the resolution, frame rate and pixel aspect ratio of your QT video match your export settings, your quality will be fine. Rendering preview files is just that…preview files.

Apparently the resolution of the video does not match your project settings AND you have selected “Resize clips to project settings”. If your source video has a different PAR (pixel aspect ratio) or the res is not 4:3, then Pro will squeeze or squish your video.
