Export to tape may not be available if Premiere is not configured with “DV Device Control” (Edit>Preferences>Device Control>Devices)
OR
if Window’s cannot “see” your external deck (Device Manager> Imaging devices). Bad firewire card/cable/deck firewire controller. -
I suspect the audio is Dolby…Premiere wont import that format, nor will Audition. A DVD ripping app like IamToo can rip both audio and video from a DVD into a different format that can be edited, but there will be 2 additional generational losses in quality.
Playing the DVD in Windows Media Player and recording the audio in Audition will result in a quality audio file without generation losses to the video.
Best bet is to capture both audio and video from the camera via an analog/digital converter as digital video…spend the $ on hardware solution, not software…like the ADS Pyro A/V link or Canopus ADVC 100. -
Dont think Title Deko will work in 1.5.
Best bet is Boris FX 8.0.
Hollywood FX 5 will also work but needs special installation steps. -
I cant duplicate your problem…suggest dinking around in Premiere’s ASIO settings (Preferences>Audio Hardware) and changing the Input/Output Device setting (mine is Adobe Default Windows Sound 1.5).

Many laptops overheat during rendering…prop it up so the bottom gets air curculation. If you have a tower, can you feel if the top is warm during rendering?

Is your mic plugged into the correct hole on the sound card? (not line-in)

Could be feedback…turn off your PC speakers and use headphones while doing VO.

Some effects are take very long to render…unsharpen mask, blurs, color corrections.

Alt 0 (zero) is the shortcut and works for me. Do you have a 3rd party capture card?
