Does Premiere tell you that you are dropping frames? Your description sounds more like corrupted data. If the LCD on the camera does not show anything unusual, then the firewire cable/card and camera’s 1394 controller are suspect as well as the PCI slot.

HDV is Mpeg 2, you cannot capture as anything else. Explain your workflow beginning with the camera.

Probably half the world is editing with CS4 on a 32 bit system, me included and with less issues than any other version. My system is minimalistic.
It is possible your issues are not with the software. Suggest giving us some info and we might be able to help.1. Do you have the latest update (4.2)?

In your original multicam sequence where you sync’d 2 tracks, select the clip in track 2. Open the Effects controls pallet and click on the word Motion. Note the bounding box w/ handles around the video in the Program monitor. Resize the clip to about 25% and drag it to the left edge of the screen. Same song for the clip in Track 1…except drag this one to the right.

Describe your hard drive situation and where are your scratch discs and your source video.

You can edit your movie in color, then apply black and white to one clip, select that clip and Copy, lasso all the rest of the clips, right click and choose Paste Attributes.

We need more details on the format/codec of the video…or what camera did it come from?
