You could try and use Movie Maker to convert it to a WMV file, then load it into Vegas…you will lose quality but this is the only workaround I know if no other converter will work.

I will generally format and size my images in Photoshop before adding any stills into Vegas. Maybe your image ratio/size has something to do with it??

Hi John,

This could be any number of causes, even Windows 8 itself or a driver issue. Mind you that I am running Vegas 11. And I do not know your system setup so…

Check the render options under ‘Encode mode’ (default – Auto, Render CPU, Render GPU) and try forcing the ‘Render GPU’ option. But first, update the video drivers. Also try turning off any anti-virus programs.

I would just like to add something about selecting the operating system. I am a Microsoft Partner/System Builder and I also did the Windows 8 beta testing.

I strongly suggest you buy Windows 7 and stay away from the latest version until at least the first service pack is issued. This is a general rule I have and tell my business customers with all new OS releases. Vegas itself is fairly buggy and I can see trying to run this program on a new OS would create an untold number of headaches!

I’m personally not upgrading any of my computers to Win 8, it might be good for smart phones or tablets, but the design and layout is not built for productivity on a desktop.

One other thing with Win 8, Windows Media Player will not support/play DVDs, you will need to buy Windows Media Center as an add-on instead. 🙁

Thanks for all the info! I was able to get a WAV file out then reloaded everything back in Vegas, all is good now.

Since the DVR has the AC3 option that works creating a file that Vegas will load, I am going to keep it on that setting.

When I first started to use the DVR I had on AAC audio, at least now I can fix those earlier vids.
