I have clients who want to play WMV HD at trade shows. The HVX-200 demo dvd had
an HD version on the disc. Will FCP edit DVCPROHD footage so I can deliver
an HD version on disc?? And I am strictly talking playing back files through Windows Media Player, I know HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are a little our yet.Is the downrez from FCP in realtime using a Kona board?

I have a Toshiba DLP. I get Digital HD. Watching the Monday night game.
When an SD commercial comes in it gets cropped to 4:3 and the resolution goes down.
A Samsung spot featuring Dan Marino comes on and stays 16:9 and in HD. On most network shows that are broadcast in HD the spots are still SD. On my 4:3 set upstairs the HD spots show as 16:9 letterbox. I was just wondering if anyone is producing and delivering HD spots – if so – what is the delivery format?

Jan was saying they will probably post some footage to coincide with DVexpo in LA Dec 4-7. Microsoft has a download section to preview WMV HD and Apple also has a section to download Quicktime HD. That’s all we need is some footage from the AG-HVX200 to compare.

I have nothing against creative marketing, thats the business I am in! And I do visit Tosh to see what’s up. What I want is some more meat beyond what I can read in a brochure. I realize the meat has not been processed yet. I was asking early on some questions about the P2 workflow. They alude to it in the AG-HVX200 countdown. Is this something that will be ready to go and implement when the cameras ship or will we have to wait another 6 months before we can really do HD with the AG-HVX200. I know firestore has said it will ship a version we can use with the AG-HVX200 in March. Great, what editing systems will support it. I saw a Matrox demo on Axio and the Matrox rep said they might be supporting P2 but was not sure. The reason I am getting all worked up is that I can see that I might be able to produce projects that I have scripts and storyboards for. In the meantime I have to edit and produce the boring for money projects to get to the next step. Jan you have been great to jump in here and believe me, I am on the Panasonic bus with you and as soon as I get my hands on the AG-HVX200 I am sure it won’t be long before you can report on real projects and let Tosh be a pleasant memory.

I finally bought a Toshiba 52″ DLP. I get about 10 HD channels. Discovery HD and INHD are fantastic. After you see the shows you get to see them over and over. These channels need more content. Good content. I cannot even watch regular TV anymore. My wife does not understand what I am talking about. I had a client over the other day and he said watching my set was the first time he had seen such good quality. I fired up the PC and showed him WMV HD playing off my laptop. He wants to produce his next trade show video in HD. I remember when DVD was new. I pushed and pushed my clients,
I have not made a VHS dub in over a year. It will take an effort on the part of producers to push and make it happen. That is why I am Awaiting the Arrival of the AG-HVX200 with great anticipation! -

The DVD demo I received for the HVX200 has a WMV HD version of the video. You would think all the videos playing would be from some sort of HD source? Does anyone know who edited the HVX200 demo?? Looks like they used FCP??

Final Cut Pro 4 through Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 require a computer with an AGP video card for installation. PowerMac G5 (Late 2005) models (released October 19, 2005) and iMac G5 (iSight) models feature newer PCI Express video cards. Because of this, you can’t install Final Cut Pro 4.x on these computers.Final Cut Pro 3.x and earlier do not work in Max OS X 10.4 Tiger. Because Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) and iMac G5 (iSight) models require Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later, you can’t install Final Cut Pro 3.x or earlier versions on these computers.
To use Final Cut Pro on Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) or iMac G5 (iSight) computers, please upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5.

Firestore will be coming out with a 60 or 100 gig portable HD that will in theory allow you to record HD direct to the HD. March 06 release for the HD. Look at the Firestore forum for more info.
