That is interesting. Initially I do not plan to offer full-blown sit down at my place editing just yet. I hardly ever edit with clients. But having a Lap-top on location to check footage out and do some basic editing would be ideal. Where you using the internal HD on the laptop, or where you running external drives??
I just need a set-up for the next 3-4 months to do this and deliver
HD stock footage as QT. So a Powerbook and FCP would fill this bill??

If the graphics are instead created in a computer tool such as Photoshop, many designers are used to sizing the graphics for import into non-linear-editors using the non-square pixel structure of digital video (720H x 480V). Often, 4:3 graphics are created using a canvas of 720H x 540V, and then resized before export to 720×480. The result when imported into the NLE will be correctly scaled images. For Widescreen production, the designer should instead work with a canvas of 853×480, and then scale to 720×480 upon export.

Yes I do have a limited client base. I am in Dallas and do not shoot for TV. The real appeal of the HVX-200 is for my own projects and stock shooting. The P2 workflow will be great for me. It will lock-out the casual user and corporate types. Shooting stock footage with HDV is a waste of time.

That would be useful for short work. What would really be cool
is to be able to off-load an entire show to a file and then with
a cheap $100 firewire drive, take that to a post house where you
could dump to some form of HD tape. I have seen some work flows that
have file sequences and then reconform them at an on-line facility. -
Once footage gets printed to film then you have thousands of variables.
Barry said they were going to do some film outs to 35MM. I am sure you will see articles in dozens of magazines. If you can afford an HDCAM deck then I would get the CineAlta instead of the HVX. I do not have a spare $100,000 sitting around. I do have a spare $10,000 and I will get the HVX and I will deliver on WMV-HD for real clients I have now. I shoot 10 days with the HVX and it’s paid for. Any more questions? -
Do you have an edit system to view Native footage??
The WMV -HD is fine for me. That is a delivery format.
Look on the Microsoft WMV site. You have stuff shot
on IMAX to DVX on there. Download those and compare
the last HVX video that Barry uploaded. The HVX footage
holds its own and in many cases I think it is much better
quality than is put put by the biggest studios.
That is all you can ask for. -
