Just a thought but maybe the card needs to be finalized, similar to a miniDVD camcorder.

USB is (almost) always a problem when capturing full frame video. For this reason, firewire is recommended. A basic firewire card and cable are very inexpensive these days and will solve most, if not all, of your problems.

Since you have DVD Architect, you already have the AC3 encoder so no purchase is necessary. Have you installed and registered it?

You need that to get the AC3 option.
