  • AC3 file? How to create an audio track…

Posted by Jerry Neal on October 26, 2006 at 9:26 pm

I took all of my AVI video segments (four of them)and placed them on a new timeline. I then selected render as MPEG 2. Once this was finished, I went back to select AC3 for my audio track, but I didn’t see it. I now have my entire video in MPEG 2 but still need to render my audio. I am using Vegas 6 but I don’t see (can’t find) AC3 in the “save as type” menu. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

RENDER AS-this will give you AC3 options. You cannot use the SAVE AS command as Vegas doesn’t see AC3 audio only DVDA sees it.

    Do you have DVD Architect?
You need that to get the AC3 option.

Okay, I found the AC3 setting (Render As). However, when I went to use it, I got a promt telling me that I need to purchase the AC3 encoder software. Is this correct? If so, what other options do I have to create a DVD without spending more money on software? I have Vegas 6 with DVD architect 3.0. Thanks for your replies.

Since you have DVD Architect, you already have the AC3 encoder so no purchase is necessary. Have you installed and registered it?

For anyone that may do a search on this problem in the future, would you mind telling us what your solution was? Thanks.

I had not yet registered DVD Architect. Once I did this, the AC-3 selection worked just fine.
