I’ve used an ADVC 100 at work for a few years now and HIGHLY recommend it. They do what they’re made for and do it very well.

Small images shouldn’t be a problem as you can zoom in quite far.
How small is the image anyway?“Do you understand what the ‘stretch to fill frame’ button does?”
I didn’t so I played with turning it on and off to see what happened when I zoomed or panned an image. Try it and see for yourself.

This is called Overscan and has been discussed here numerous times in the past.
The only way to ensure that your titles are seen on a TV is to keep them within the Safe Area lines that are in the Vegas preview window.
You do have this feature enabled, don’t you?
If not, then you need to turn it on and make sure ALL titles stay within the boundaries.
BTW, a computer screen will show the entire image (i.e. no overscan) which is why you didn’t see a problem watching it in WMP. -
… Vegas(7) insists on stretching it to full screen.
Unfortunately that’s the way Vegas handles things 🙁
You have 2 choices here.
#1 is to create a full-size transparent frame, drop the properly positioned graphic on it and position accordingly.
#2 is to use the zoom & pan features built into Pan/Crop to position your graphic. -
In Vidcap:
Options – Prefs – Enable DV device control.
Make sure this is deselected. -
You didn’t say so I’m assuming that you’re using Pan/Crop and not Track Motion to do the PIP.
Either way, here’s the solution.
Open the FX window, look just to the left of where it says Border (bottom left of the FX window) and you’ll notice a small arrow (Pre/Post Toggle) that’s pointing towards the word Border.
Click it so that it’s pointing the other way (the Post part of Pre/Post) and it’ll be around the PIP’d image 🙂 -
If there is no animation on any opf the Powerpoint slides, you’d be much better off saving them out as individual images.
To do this, go File – Save As and select an image format (jpg, png, etc.) in the Save As Type drop-down box.
Once you do this, you have the option to save only that slide or the entire presentation.
Be advised that you’ll have to renumber them as Powerpoint saves them as slide1, slide2,…slide10, etc.
If there are less than 100, rename the first 9 to slide01, slideo2, etc.
If there are more than 100, you’ll have to go slide001, slide002, slide010, slide 011, etc.
This is so that they will be in the right order when you import them into Vegas. -

I’m constantly amazed at the shorcuts some folks take and their lack of common safety sense.
Safety features were put there for a reason.
So is the using the right tool (such as REAL diffusion material – cost is minimal) for the job. -

Looks like a mask to me. Use the paint program of your choice to create a black and white one and key out the centre portion.
