Ryan, try the 2D Shadow option found in Track Motion and see if that’s good enough for you.

What format and size is your source video?
If my event doesn’t match my project properties (a common case with stills), I open up the Pan/Crop window, right click in the middle of it and select “Match Out Aspect”.
That takes care of the black bars. -

Don’t blame Sony. I have no problems playing YUV files with VLC.

Which program is that? I render from 1400×1080 60i to Sony’s Internet 1280×720-30p preset and have no problems.

Realistically, with a 1.66 GHz computer, buying a new one is the bet thing to do. Even a basic i7 from a big box store will amaze you with it’s speed.

These are built into Vegas and are accessed by clicking the green Track FX icon in the Track Header.
Doing this brings up the basic audio FX window.
Click on the Track EQ icon and adjust as desired.
If that’s not enough, click on the Plug-In Chain icon on the upper left. This brings up yet another window of FX and you can add either the Paragraphic or Parametric EQ controls (also stock with all versions of Vegas).

Sorry but Sony Video Capture only recognizes firewire, not USB.

Steve, try and get a copy of the original info from your client.
Assuming it’s from a card, have him copy the contents of the entire card to a drive and give that to you.
Grab a copy of XDCAM EX ClipBrowser and use this to extract the information from it.
I keep it in my Dropbox folder because I get tired of searching for it every time someone is looking for it.

If he no longer has the card but has FCP, have him render it out in ProRes as I know Vegas will read that.
