    Hello…

I am trying to edit a new project using vegas pro10 and the previewing window is far too slow. I have cleaned up my computer, sped it up as much as possible, set the preview window to draft-quarter and it still jumps to the point i cant edit…

Now i dont have a duel core processor, But my CPU (1.66ghz)handled my last project ok… Now its seems to always be at 100% when previewing anything…

The only difference i can think of is my video files are now MOV. shot from a DSLR camera vs the AVI’s i used before…

Is it worth converting all the videos to AVI/WMV or do i just purchase a newer computer?

Try setting the Project properties to a lower resolution.. Lower resolution allows better preview, although obviously if you preview in a full screen, there will be a compromise point.

_AS FAR AS I KNOW_, from trial and error and reading, the Project Properties do not affect the actual render…._IF_ you don’t just let Vegas do its own thing, and instead use your own resolutions and quality settings when rendering. I _think_ some of the automatic render setups will use the Project Properties as a basis. I have never used them to know. I have read intimations that the Project properties _do_ affect the output, but I have never seen it, and nobody has actually told exactly how.

    Now _there_ is an invitation….:D

Sounds like something else is running/processing in the background,
double check first to see which other application is open.

Be sure your preview window is set to “preview (auto)” and not something higher like “good (half).

Realistically, with a 1.66 GHz computer, buying a new one is the bet thing to do. Even a basic i7 from a big box store will amaze you with it’s speed.
