I also just discovered this major oversight on Apple’s part.
I called them and was given this direct link to download the pdf versions straight from Apple:https://support.apple.com/manuals/#professionalsoftware

Wow. And now it’s working. I had relaunched the program a few times to no avail. I guess it took my post…
Any clues what caused this, or just a freak out?

November 10, 2009 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Video in QT looks good, video in AE looks bad.Aside from the obvious differences, my screen grabs would look the same. I also tried rendering out to different formats without any positive results.
I should note that my footage is all 1920×1080 footage.
I’ve been speaking with someone at Adobe’s Technical Response Team prior to posting here. With some of my problem footage he has been unable to duplicate the problem, however he did not have an Aja card installed.
I pointed him to this thread, so we’ll see if anything turns up.

November 9, 2009 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Video in QT looks good, video in AE looks bad.I have been experiencing the exact same thing. Animation codec. Plays fine in QT, blocky (though not as bad as yours) in AE. In the program window, clicking on the clip shows the proper info except for where it should list the codec: I get seemingly random letters – qelr in this case.
Also, audio that should be there does not play. I can hear it in QT, but not AE (and yes, my playout settings are correct). Showing the waveform gives a flat line. I’m not trying hijack this post, just giving extra info on the exact same problem files.
Finally, if I take these files to a laptop that is running the same versions of everything I have no problems. The only difference is that the problem machine has a Kona LHe and has the Cinema4d aec plugin installed.

October 15, 2009 at 8:00 pm in reply to: ‘network globe’. Trying to trace edges of a mesh with sweep nurbs, with spheres positioned at vertex positions.A year and a half later, but how did you end up doing this? I need to create almost the exact same thing. It was amazing how simple changing the geometry of the sphere was, but what it did to the Atom Array. How did you end up animating it? That is where I am getting stuck as well.
-
Yeah, I’m discovering that the atom array wouldn’t quite do it; but it does give cool results.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve not yet used Sweep nurbs, but I’ll dive in. I’m going to look at your file right now.
Once I draw the splines, is there a way to wrap them around a sphere? Meaning do I need to draw them around the sphere originally or can I draw them on a flat plane and then wrap them.
Thanks again.

Unfortunately, I don’t. I only have the Core version at this time. Apologies, I should have included that.
Since posting, I’ve been playing around with the Atom Array. The Cylinder/Sphere combo is kind of what I’m looking for. If I can set that pattern properly and then wrap it around a sphere, would that maybe work?
