FCS3 WORST documentation I’ve ever experienced!

Not even a PDF. It’s HTML. You have to open a program or go to Apple’s site to read.
Horrible Spotlight search which doesn’t show keyword in relation to page numbers (there are NO PAGE NUMBERS) nor keywords highlighted on a page.

I was trying find out about color-coded tab feature and found NOTHING about it under any variation of those 3 words.

This is amateur low budget documentation that I haven’t seen in any supposed professional tool going back close to a decade.

I can’t believe a single post house or professional editor thought this was good.

    It’s absolutely atrocious!

It’s rare that I vent like this but this is unconscionable.

I stll have my manual for dvdsp from four years ago. Sadly, it’s still completely accurate.

So they didn’t provide any paper manuals? I guess they lowered the price so that’s ok. They should sell them.

There’s no help menu/electronic manual like in FCP6?

I can understand not including paper manuals. The only use I’ve had for them is using them to prop up a clients broken laptop screen….but seriously…no PDFs…that sucks. HTML based help menu’s suck. PDF’s (in my opinion) are much more functional…. Looks like I’ll be extracting the PDF documents from my apps before I update.

Guess what? Adobe’s manuals are also HTML! Get used to it folks. Apple has gone Green. We are in a new era. It’s time to save money and the environment.

[Bret Williams] “So they didn’t provide any paper manuals?”

Not only no paper. NO PDF!
It’s HTML. One must open a program or go to Apple’s site to read. No way to have it stand in the computer as separate.

HORRIBLE search function. No page numbers. No Keyword page number associations or highlighted words on a page as there are NO PAGES per se.

No PDFs. Only HTML and near useless search. Absolutely the worst I’ve experienced in any pro app of any kind from any developer.

Steve this is NOT about paperless.
It’s about HTML vs PDF. PDF provides fast search with keyword to page associations and highlighted words on a page.

I CAN NOT find the documentation on how to color coded tabs. None of those key words show it.

PDF is paperless too and it’s independent of the program so I can copy it to anything form iPod Touch to Laptop for portability.

There’s NO Professional excuse for this kind of poor documentation.

[Steve Eisen] “Adobe’s manuals are also HTML”

And that’s exactly why I avoid the after effects help at all costs. I search the cow AE forum before i consult the HTLM manual…and it pays off. At least the AE forum search highlights my search words.

Clearly Apple is preparing an extensive book (The Manual) for sale that will probably cost 45.
And I’ll probably buy it because what’s online is ridiculous.

If that’s their route fine but it should have been available to order along with PDF on day of release.
No excuse even if they want to charge for it.
