The source media is WMV 740×480 SD
The audio is 44,100K Stereo

What I want to know is what is the best format to convert and edit this in? I currently use uncompressed NTSC DV Widescreen AVI’s, but they are huge in file size.

I just wanted to report in and say that this seemed to fix the 20 minute slowdown. I had it set at 2048MB, but after I set it to 128M all the slowdowns disappeared.

I’m not sure if this would matter, but I have noticed that the NTSC DV Widescreen is titles “= NTSC DV Widescreen” vs “NTSC DV Widescreen” on the HD and Platnium versions. Its also got something called 3-2-2-4 pulldown or something like that labeled 24p.

Different codec maybe? I’m not sure to be honest, but I would love to get this issue fixed so pro runs just as fast.

Transparency is different in sony vegas 9 than 8

Put your cursor above the movie timeline right below the actual time and it will say ocapacity 100%

Drag that slider up and down to adjust

I am just trying to find a good resolution that fills the screen when I play back the file in wmp12 of windows 7. No black bars left or right. (WMP11 & 12 issue when viewing videos)

960×540 seems to do this perfectly, but it takes forever to render the file before I can even edit it.

Could you please tell me how I can make the file size smaller so that it renders faster while still completely filling the screen when I view it in Windows 7 media player.

My video library consists entirely of WMV’s, MP3’s, and AVI’s
No Mov’s, MP4’s, or FLV’s at all.

So I have no use for VLC or the other players.

Problem solved – bad import

It turns out I was importing wrong

You see I would download a WMV music video off youtube
Import it and ungroup the video (delete video section)
drag audio section below my clip

Some reason this always had a messed up section on every single song when I imported it, but when I watched the video outside of vegas it played completely fine.

Well after much frustration trying to fix every single video I had made, I decided to try a purchased version so I had to buy the music thru amazon then import the mp3.

When I did this there was absolutely no error or dropouts at all.

As for fixing the transitions
I now always highlight the whole video then hit shift+b
Then I preview my video.
